The Sax Institute is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that improves health and wellbeing by driving better use of evidence. The Institute has an international reputation as an evidence specialist, and nearly 20 years of experience in translating research findings into policy. They work with governments, health and research organisations, and a network of experts nationwide to analyse policy problems and find the best evidence-based solutions.
Tasked with reimagining the institute’s brand and visual identity, our solution began with creating a stylised S mark formed by concentric circular lines, radiating out from the centre and forming a robust series of ‘pathways’ within the positive and negative spaces. These pathways represent the idea of multiple solutions to any problem—a trait that is very much part of the Sax Institute DNA, and fundamental to their approach. Combined with a versatile, colourful brand palette in strong rectangular forms—designed to suggest post-it notes used during research and discovery phases—the end result is a recognisable, flexible identity to last well into the institute’s future.
‘Lisa and her team at L+L Design have excelled in the rebranding project they recently completed for us. Although originally engaged for a more limited visual updating project in which the logo was initially out of scope, L+L always had an eye on the wider potential. They impressed senior managers with their methodical and professional approach, and quickly won backing for the new logo they proposed.’
Adam Cresswell—Chief Communications Officer, Sax Institute
‘The new look, accompanied by the raft of updated branding and design elements such as new fonts, colour palette, document cover designs and templates, is of the highest standard and has won nothing but praise from staff and clients alike. Lisa and her team were responsive and flexible as well as highly creative, and overall a pleasure to work with. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend L+L Design to other potential clients.’
